Kitchen Witchcraft: Crystal Magic

Description by publisher:

In Kitchen Witchcraft: Crystal Magic, best-selling author Rachel Patterson looks at some of the more commonly available crystals and presents them in a magical light! Combining an extensive reference section along with topics such as how to work with crystals for magical purpose, connecting with crystal magical energy, which crystals to use for specific magical intent, creating crystal spell grids and using crystals for divination, Crystal Magic is an essential book for the modern Kitchen Witch. Crystal Magic is the third in a series of books that delve into the world of the Kitchen Witch. Each book breaks down the whys and wherefores of the subject and includes practical guides and exercises. Other titles include Spell and Charms, Garden Magic and The Elements.

Kitchen Witchcraft: Crystal Magic book review
A relatively short read with only 152 pages on the paperback version, but still packed with information from top to bottom.
The author starts by sharing the very basics of crystal magic. Including topics like cleansing crystals, choosing your crystals, connecting with their energy and more.

As the book progresses more advance topics are being presented to the reader, that go beyond focusing only on crystals, but adding how to work with crystals in various areas of magic. Chakras, spells, pendulums, and runes are just but a fraction of what this book discusses in its pages.

The emphasis the author places in explaining that her experiences are not the only way and encouraging the reader to follow one’s intuition is refreshing and makes you feel at ease when encountering practices that one might perform in a different manner.
The book continues adding information about crystal’s Magical Properties, Energy, Element, Planet, and Zodiac sign.

As you can see, despite the limited pages contained in the book the information included is rather wide and varied. Which in my opinion makes a nice addition to any witch’s library or for anyone interested in crystals and how to work with them.
The only downside to this book is the lack of images and photographs.

The Hearth Witch’s Kitchen Herbal Review

The Hearth Witch’s Kitchen Herbal Review

The Hearth Witch’s Kitchen Herbal Book is a nice little collection of various uses for herbs commonly found in most kitchens. Of the main herbs discussed in this book, the only ones missing from my pantry were cardamon and mint, but they are so easily available, that if I were to need them; with one quick run to the store I can stock up on them.
The book includes many uses for these common household herbs, things like internal remedies, external remedies, cosmetic uses, magical correspondence of the herbs, 6 different appendixes with yet more useful information.
Choosing to be a medium
23 herbs make the bulk of this book. They are: Basil, black pepper, caraway, cardamom, chili, cinnamon, clove, coriander, cumin, dill, fennel, fenugreek, garlic, ginger, lemon, mint, oats, oregano, parsley, rosemary, sage, thyme, and turmeric.

All of them with detailed information about their history, culinary uses, cosmetic uses, medicinal uses, and a “caution” section if applicable. Possible risks, potential complications, and pharmaceutical interactions are included in the “caution” section. Extremely important information to keep into account if using herbs for medicinal purposes.

You will also find all the different recipes, like teas, infusions, oils, hot compresses, toners, and more. There are even a couple of face masks, a face scrub, and shampoo.

Although clearly this book is marketed for witches, anyone can benefit from the information inside, maybe just skip the part on correspondence for rituals and spells.

This book makes a great resource to keep in the kitchen (or close by), witch or no, you will find a lot of useful information and easily accessible. The layout is also quite pretty to the eye and makes it easy to search for what you’re looking for, as everything is divided into sections.

Choosing to Be a Medium

Choosing to Be a Medium

The amount of information in this book is grandiose.

This book is divided into 3 parts: Groundwork, Diving in, and Advanced Mediumship. Features 10 chapters, and a total of 65 step by step exercises.

All exercises were nicely explained, and I followed a few already.

One of the very first ones is to constantly try to guess numbers to tune into your abilities. The author recommends guessing before looking at what time it is, so I’ve been doing that, as is very easy. Unfortunately, I didn’t get it a single time, not even close.

Choosing to be a medium

In between the exercises you will also find a myriad, of anecdotal information, which gives a nice rest in between exercises, as there is no way I would try each one back to back, and is also a nice read to get antiquated with the author personal experiences.

I particularly enjoyed a section presented in the appendix, titled “Ten Mediums, Ten Questions” where the same 10 questions are made to 10 different mediums as a sort of interview.

Overall I really liked this book, and I found it to be an interesting read.
I like that the author writes in a very human and personal approach, and even if I never become a medium myself, I enjoyed reading about her and others that are one.

Art Of The Root Review

Art Of The Root Review

Art of the root is a small new age boutique that sells a collection of Wiccan, pagan, and hoodoo products, like oils, incense, aromatherapy blends, magical bath salts, herbal soaps, perfumes, and candles.

My little haul includes some hoodoo oils, like the fame and fortune oil, crown of success oil, shi shi hoodoo oil, and life of luxury oil. I also grabbed one of the art of the root spell kits to attract money, which features a natural soy candle, money-drawing bath salt, money drawing oil, and incense. I’m very happy with my mini art of the root haul, and I can’t wait to try all these products.
